Getting to Know...
"I have been an English teacher for over four years and must admit that the experience has been absolutely amazing. Being able to guide young adults through their journey of learning English is incredibly humbling and a huge responsibility. I understand that teaching English as a second language requires a great deal of patience and enthusiasm in order to effectively communicate with the students. Students appreciate my lively, humorous classes and I attempt to motivate and challenge them.
I have recently completed a Ph D in English Literature from the University of Wollongong.
Sharon
"Employed as teacher of the evening IELTS preparation course six months ago here at CTIC, I can say honestly that I have never been happier in my career as a professional teacher of English as a Second Language. With many years experience teaching and officially testing a variety of exam courses including IELTS, in which I have chosen to specialize, as well as all levels of general English both here and overseas, I hope both to share this expertise with other staff and students and to learn fresh perspectives and techniques from current CTIC staff involved in innovative course design."
Miranda A
"Students at CTIC come from Asia, South America, and Europe, providing an interesting and varied mix of ages, backgrounds, and life experience. Their various perspectives contribute to lively discussion of issues that are part of the IELTS syllabus, and to the development of greater understanding of each other and differing cultures. Friendships between many students blossom over time and encourage fluency and expression, invaluable for both IELTS candidates and for integration into Australian society, which is a goal for many of them. It is a great pleasure to teach these interactive students and assist in raising their English levels within a framework of current affairs and social awareness, which they are engaging in and enjoying".
