Diploma of Children's Services - CHC50908

Course duration

The course will be conducted 2 days a week, 9am to 4pm, over 52 weeks

Course outcomes

This qualification covers workers in children’s services who are responsible for planning, implementing and managing early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements. At this level workers have responsibility for supervision of other staff and volunteers

Possible job titles include authorised supervisor (children’s services), children’s services coordinator, Centre manager (children’s services), group/team coordinator/leader (children’s services), program leader (children’s services), and child care worker. Licensing/regulatory requirements may apply when seeking employment in any of the above positions.

Work Placement

This course requires that some of the learning and assessment occurs in the workplace.  The work placement of 100 hours for the duration of the course will be organised by the College.

A Prohibited Employment Declaration must be signed by students in courses where contact will be made with children and young people.  In some cases you may be required to undertake a criminal records check or a Working with Children Check

Prerequisite requirements

The entry requirement for this qualification is completion of the 11 core units from CHC30708 Certificate III in Children’s Services plus CHCCN305A Provide care for babies. Candidates must demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition process.

Pathways from the qualification

Graduates from the CHC50908 Diploma of Children’s Services may apply for advanced standing at universities offering early childhood courses.
