Course Aim:  

The course is designed for students from beginners to more experienced English speakers. It is suitable for students who may want to enhance their English language skills before attempting further study in Australia, or for students who want to develop their English to achieve their personal goals.

Levels:  

The General English program is a 5-level program offered at Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels. Each level takes 12 weeks to complete.

Duration:  

4 - 60 weeks

Course Work:  

Based on the popular New Cutting Edge series of course books with supplementary tasks and materials that are designed to meet students' needs. A range of tasks designed to develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening as well as improving their pronunciation and knowledge of grammar.

Assessments:

On entry into the College the student takes a placement test which determines their English level and the class to which they are best suited. Students are given progress tests every 5 weeks to help them understand and improve their performance. Classroom performance is also monitored and further recommendations are made on areas requiring attention as well as ways to improve them. Students are tested on speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Completion:  

Students are given an exit test and receive a certificate stating the level of their course and competencies across reading, writing and speaking.

Further Study: 

Students who have successfully attained an Intermediate Level of General English may study Upper Intermediate EAP. Students who have successfully attained an Upper Intermediate Level of General English may study Advanced EAP, IELTS Preparation courses or underake vocational training (IELTS equiv 5.5) or University undergraduate courses (IELTS equiv 6.0)
